Decentralized Travel Ecosystem XcelTrip advises you to visit Moesgaard Museum and Port of Aarhus
Moesgaard Museum
The past is brought to fascinating life at the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus. Moesgaard
Museum has three Michelin stars in the Michelin attraction's guide.
Prehistory presented innovatively in a breathtaking
architectural setting makes for a world-class museum experience when you visit the
Moesgaard Museum. The past becomes alive and the people in the exhibits will
step forward and provide the visitors with a better understanding of the past
and how we arrived at where we are in the present.
An international
attraction
The Moesgaard Museum is a huge attraction not only
because of the architectural design of the museum and the exhibitions, but also
due to its location in the beautiful natural surroundings in south of Aarhus,
overlooking the woods and sea.
The evolutionary
stairway
The evolutionary stairway at Moesgaard Museum is not
only a key element of the architecture, which leads to the various exhibitions
of the museum, it is also very much an opportunity for you to see where we
human beings originate from. On the stairs you
will see seven hominins. They were members of the tribe Hominini, which means “human
species”, but they don't all look like the modern human being.
A museum
experience for everyone
Staged settings, dramatized storytelling, and
state-of-the-art research all combine to make the exhibitions at the new museum
appeal to visitors of all ages while also creating a sense of bonding,
fellowship and shared experience across generations.
Special opening
hours
Normally the museum is closed on Mondays but during
the summer holiday they are open on Mondays from May 2nd till August 26th 2019
and in the weeks 7 and 42. The museum is open for audience on Danish bank
holidays such as Easter holidays and the 5th of June.
Port of Aarhus - all of Denmark's port
Port of Aarhus is Denmark's
largest commercial port, with the country's largest container terminal (market
share approx. 65 per cent) and the country's largest public bulk turnover
(approx. 66 per cent). This means that a significant part of the food and
non-food products that are imported and exported to and from Denmark are
handled via Port of Aarhus. The EU has
recognized Port of Aarhus as a port of European importance, as Port of Aarhus
is one of only two Danish Ten-T Core ports, and we are comfortable in
international competition with the container ports in e.g. Germany and Holland.
Port of Aarhus has a finely meshed route with
connections to most of the world. The world's largest container ships call at
Port of Aarhus – as the only Danish port - every week. Port of Aarhus is characterized by high efficiency,
and free competition between several terminal operators makes Port of Aarhus one
of the market's most competitive - even when it comes to price.
Ships calling at Aarhus can make use of our pilot
service, mooring service and tugboats. The port service is available 24/7, all
year round and at very short notice. The two tugboats "Aros" and
"Hermes", the pilot boat "Thrym" and the port security boat
"Ara" are available. Port of Aarhus is
undergoing rapid development. A new master plan outlines an extension of the
port by 180 hectares - corresponding to 50 per cent of the current port area. Port of Aarhus is a municipal self-governing port with
its own board of directors and is operated as an economically independent unit
without public subsidies.
